The Prism™ process can in part reverse sulfidic bridges in crumb rubber.  This creates a thermoplastic rubber intermediate that can be used as:

  • An additive to modify asphalt
  • An ingredient in compounds to make thermoset rubber products
  • To produce thermoplastic elastomers (TPE)
  • An additive to modify thermoplastics
The Prism™ process - Making Tires More Circular™

New sustainable science for the rubber and plastics industries and the environment

Figuring out what to do with end of life tire material is a longstanding global problem. The rubber in tires is crosslinked (vulcanized), which means that the rubber is permanently cured into shape. It can’t be collected and melt processed. This gives tires durability, but it also makes it harder to reuse them.
